For bushfire-affected landowners

The January 2026 Longwood bushfire had a profound and lasting impact on the communities of Fawcett, Koriella, and surrounding districts, burning through farmland, bush, and private properties.

In response to that, Fawcett Hall is joining forces with many agencies and organizations in a community-led response in bushfire recovery.

We offer community dinners (potluck each Friday night from 6pm), referrals, and opportunities below as a hand up.

We are currently open Friday through Monday from 9am to 12 noon and are run entirely on volunteer hours.

We have received donations globally and have forged partnerships with many groups and/or organisations to be able to offer the below.

If you are a local landowner, you can apply for and register for

  1. Star pickets, wire and pine poles (round one)
  2. Vouchers for fencing equipment (round one)
  3. Use of fencing restoration equipment (wire spinners, etc.) from our tool reserve (library)
  4. Fodder (limited)
  5. Straw bales for sediment control

There is an info sheet—and you recieve one stake per bale.
The purpose of sediment traps is to slow the flow and hold back sediment from entering your dam or watercourse, much the same as a ground layer or vegetation would filter the water inflow as it moves down the slope.
